We’ve all had those days (for me a lot more since having kids) where despite your best intentions and attempts at forward planning, you are running late.
My most recent massage appointment, at the Lyall Hotel, was on one of those days.
For my birthday last year my parents gave me a massage voucher for the Lyall, after I suggested the hotel as an option for them when visiting Melbourne.
My first (and only other) visit to the Lyall spa was in 2006 when I lived locally. I now live a fair distance from the Lyall, which I was acutely aware of, when I was caught in Saturday traffic.
The Lyall Hotel is a small boutique hotel in the well heeled inner city suburb of South Yarra. It is beautifully appointed and the staff are incredibly professional.
After completing paperwork over a herbal tea I was shown into the treatment room by my therapist, Susanna. We briefly discussed the treatment I was booked in for and relevant health issues. Notably, this stage has been absent from some of my “deal” massages.
With sweet almond oil I had a full body massage with medium pressure. Regrettably because I was late my massage was only 45 minutes rather than an hour.
The massage itself was very relaxing but it was probably the venue with all its charm which was the highlight.
