When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
I went down to Wategoes Beach.. it was a drizzly sort of day and I went for a walk around the rocks.. exploring and enjoying the restless ocean.. I did a meditation under my favourite tree.. days like this always are a reminder to find stillness in the turbulence of life..
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
Meditation, Beach/ocean time, Pilates classes, day spa outings with a girlfriend!
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
Me and my husband just pencil it in the schedule as a necessity..we consider it a priority for us both to fill ourselves up on the things we love and keep us in balance..
If we are both feeling our own individual needs being met then we are more likely to be able to fulfill the needs of our family life .. when we are both thriving and in a good space the whole ship is happier and in a better flow ..
We believe it sends a good message to our boys as well .. if they see us being happy and taking care of ourselves they too learn to do this early on in life .. and self regulation and self love and care is great because it builds a healthy sense of self worth from the get go ..

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
I try to get “me-time” every day, whether it’s 15 minutes or a few hours. Sometimes I get it during nap time and sometimes it is at night when my husband gets home from work. In the winter, me-time is typically spent taking a hot bath with whatever book I am currently reading. In the summer, my me-time is a spent relaxing in a hammock, listening to a podcast, or treating myself to some coldstone while enjoying the quiet time in the car. I am not picky about what I do during my “me-time”, I just want it to be quiet, with no one touching me and the freedom to do whatever I want.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
Probably my favorite way to practice self care is taking my hot bath and shaving my legs. This might sound silly but I love when my legs are clean and smooth even if no one else will see them. It feels very luxurious. I also love to have my nails painted.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
I am not great at self care but I am really good at “Me Time”. I am definitely a better mother when I give myself the time to unwind and relax, free from the kids. This did not come easy but I have learnt to give myself permission to take time for myself. Being a parent is a really hard, really selfless, 100% full time job. People who work a 9-5 get a lunch break, so I darn well deserve a break or two during my 24 hour shift. My advice, give yourself permission too! Lay down during nap time instead of laundry, ask your husband for 15 minutes alone when he gets home, find a simple routine that helps you to relax- whatever you want to do that will help you feel refreshed, do it!

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
Two weeks ago I was on a little trip with friends to Paris! Just shopping, drinking eating …. enjoying time … one of the best time-outs I can imagine ! You have the fun before the event .. the preparing , outfits etc. … and you have the fun after the event … fantastic memories , pics and a lot of stuff to talk about on your next ladies-evening.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
Good drinks and good food are my passion 🙂 so once a week we have a ladies-evening … no kids, no boys .. just a good series/film and 🥂🍾🌮🍣🥟🍤🍡
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
The best thing is a plan day in the week … so there is a kind of routine for everybody and you can get your time out and your energy regularly:-)

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
I went to the gym. Boring I know, but going anywhere alone these days is rare. It’s amazing how liberating it feels leaving the house with just my keys and purse.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
I love to book in a facial or get a manicure if my husband or a friend can watch Ted. The last time I took him, I had to ask the manicurist to remove my freshly applied nail polish, as it was still drying when he woke in his pram and started crying. I left very quickly with bare nails.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
I didn’t realise before having Ted how little time I would have to myself. Most of our family live interstate and overseas, so I have learnt to take up the offers of friends to watch him, even if it’s just for half an hour to get to the supermarket. Becoming a mother has also forced me to let go of control. If he’s put to sleep late or is given an extra bottle, so what? He’s not complaining.

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
With two ‘under three year olds’ in our house “me-time” feels a bit like something of the past - my current me time (when I am away from the kids) is actually work time, but work days feel like days off at the moment, the travel time on my way to work when I get to listen to some music or a pod cast is such a treat.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
I try my hardest to fit in a couple of home work outs per week - I think it’s so important for my head and body to rebuild my strength after having my third baby a year ago. Having small kids is a bit like Groundhog Day, so making sure we all get out into the fresh air for walks and adventures is really important too.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
Go to bed as early as you can, the more rested you are the easier it all is to deal with. Accept help - if your Mum or Dad is around or a friend is willing to take baby for a walk/to a group, take them up on it and have a bath or a nap. I sometimes wait til all of my kids are in bed and instead of tidying the living room for the 12th time that day I have a bath and read my book - happy Mama = happy family.
