- When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
Just yesterday! = ) My husband had the day off and he did a little gardening with the girls while I went and got my hair done. I realize that when I’m gone, it’s his time to make special memories with the girls. It’s nice to come home and listen to what he did with them - both the girls and him need that time. Our parenting styles are different, and the kids get to experience that too which is a great balance. He’s more of the Martha Stewart kinda dad.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
I’m eating food that makes me feel good. I think I hit a wall and I was tired of feeling tired….I’m on a new journey to feeling healthy. So currently, I’m enjoying reading about health and taking time to look the way I feel. It’s been nice getting my nails and hair done too. We work all my self care stuff into our monthly budget, and it helps maintain and schedule things out, so I don’t stop.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
Starting to make changes isn’t always easy, but once you begin to see results it’s encouraging and you want more! I think that once you take time to love yourself you begin to get a pep in your step and you gain confidence. Being the best you is for You and those you love. They get the best version of yourself…
Being a mother has been one of the biggest blessings in my life but I’m also a wife, daughter, sister and business owner. I need to feel good about myself in order to have the patience and love freely.
I sit down with my husband and we schedule our month out in advance. This gives me time to ask my mom to babysit or our babysitter.

What? Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage
Where? Essential Bodywork in Noosaville, Queensland
Why? Hawaiian Lomi Lomi is a sacred and unique style of bodywork which incorporates the use of breath, music and long rhythmical flowing movements of the arms and hands on the body. The massage works with the body’s natural flow and rhythm, combined with the positive healing energy generated, to release tension and blockages in the body, stimulating the flow of energy to promote self healing.
Before my massage, I had read glowing reviews of Kimberlees’s work on Trip Advisor and therefore set my expectations pretty high. Kimberlee is truly deserving of the praise and ranking she receives on that site. She is clearly passionate about what she does and skilled in her art.
Highlights of the session for me were the use of hot stones (a first for me), the relaxing Hawaiian tunes and beautiful flow of the massage itself.
Kimberlee has created a gorgeous space in Noosaville to share her talents - which adds to the experience.
How much? $150.00 for 90 minutes.

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
The last time I had “me time” was just a few days ago. Usually when Olive goes to bed I run out and go thrifting or grocery shopping. Also, once a month a few girlfriends and I meet up for a few drinks! It’s so refreshing and something I really look forward to each month.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
I love baths. I never used to be a bath person but when I got pregnant taking a bath always relaxed me and it’s kind of stuck! So I try and take baths and then remember to put lots of lotion on. It’s something so simple but so important. I’m also super picky about my skin care routine and I’ve tried to make it a priority to make sure I put on a night cream every night. Now, that doesn’t always happen, but A for effort right.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
It is so important to have me time… I’ve never been one of those people that needed time alone but after having a baby and balancing our schedules I realized I needed some time alone. Whenever I get away I come back a better wife and mom. My advice would be no matter what try to get at least ONE night a week away. Or even an hour or two. If you don’t have a babysitter try finding another mom and switching. You take her babes for an hour or two and she takes yours! Get creative, you’ll be a whole new person once you get some time to hear your own thoughts!

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
I try and make it a priority in the evenings after the kids are in bed and the dinner mess is cleaned up. I put my feet up and plan the following day out first. The more structure and organisation I have in life, the more ‘me time’ I get!
Afterwards I do something that requires no brain activity whatsoever (watch a tv series - currently ‘Suits’…OMG amazing, read a magazine, online shopping, stalk instagram, call my mum/sister etc). For me it’s not about doing something special and exciting, it’s simply about pausing the everyday routine and taking time out purely for my sanity.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
A loooooong interrupted shower, with the works! ie..completely finishing my beauty routine without racing out of the bathroom dripping wet to take my son to the toilet. Also, going for a walk WITHOUT the kids ~ such a good way to clear my head completely and get rid of any negative energy. I love spending time with my husband. Maintaining a good healthy relationship is just as refreshing and rewarding as spending time on myself, and often preferred over time alone.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
It’s all about being organised and highly prioritising your physical and mental health. I’m constantly making ‘to do’ lists so I can stay on top of everyday tasks that often can pop up right when I need some ‘me time’. I deliberately keep my evenings free during the week so I have a little window of time each day to look foward to. My advice would be to block out at least three individual hours a week for yourself and yourself only, in your calendar. Don’t make any plans that clash with this time, and do everything you can in the lead up to keep the time completely free. Removing yourself from the house is also highly recommended! A mothers’ sanity is worth far more than gold, and can be the difference between a calm household and a stressful household.

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
To be completely honest, since the birth of my son, I haven’t had as much “me-time” as I probably should have. Motherhood has been a beautiful experience for me, so when I was on maternity leave I knew my time at home with my son would be limited, so I tried to soak in every moment with him. Needless to say, I almost never left his side! However, returning to work has given me more perspective. I realize now, how important it is to set time aside for yourself, even something as little as going for a coffee with a friend and having an adult conversation goes a long way!
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self-care?
Nothing beats a hot bath at the end of a long day with a good book and perhaps a glass of wine.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
Being a busy working mom it’s hard to find time for yourself, but lately I’ve been making a conscious effort to do more for myself. This week I will be starting a photography course – which is something I’ve always wanted to do. My best advice to other mamas, is to accept help. Take advantage of family and friends who offer to babysit. I always struggled with letting others help but at a certain point you just have to let go. It’s important to take time for yourself and mentally refuel.
