Two minutes with … Robin, mama to Eloise, aged 5 years, Lydia, aged almost 4 years and Gwyneth, aged 1 year

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

This morning I went for a quick run (social distancing and choosing a quiet route of course). For me exercise is me time and if it comes with fresh air and some peace and quiet, so much the better.

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

Self care is definitely a work in progress for me. I would love to do better at carving out a little time for myself, but I’m really in the thick of it with three kids five and under, and with baby Gwyneth still nursing. I know it gets easier and this time goes quickly, so I’m doing my best to enjoy this phase, lack of time to myself and all.

When I do manage it, I find almost anything I do on my own or with other grown ups feels refreshing, but I do particularly love a bit of retail therapy.

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

The advice I would give other Mamas out there would be to ask for help when you can. We put the rest of the rest of the family’s needs first and leave ourselves bottom of the list, but a little time to your self often renews your energy and perspective on parenting.
