When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
I think “me-time” is super important, especially for a new mom where everything is new and overwhelming. Every morning I wake up before my girl, have a quick 40 minute workout, take a hot shower, make a hot coffee and get ready for the day. Yes, it means waking up a little early but for me it makes me feel like me!
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
My favourite ways to practice self-care are getting a manicure and pedicure, doing an at home facial and fueling my body with nourishing foods and daily movement.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
“Me-time” and self-care is going to look different for everyone but it is so important for our sanity mamas! The way I look at it is, in order for me to take care of my little, I need to be my best self so I need to take care of me! Write it down in a day planner or on a calendar. Schedule it as date with yourself, it’s not selfish, it’s essential. Even if it’s 10 minutes a day, I promise it will make a difference.
I’m a morning person, so I schedule my me-time in the morning when everyone is still sleeping. The house is quiet and I do what I need to do!

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
This morning, I went for a walk with a friend (standing 2m apart) before my husband had to leave for work. I also grabbed myself a coffee on the way home.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
Waking up before my kids, to drink a coffee in silence, gratitude journaling, putting on my essential oil diffuser each day, having a bath, exercising, getting my nails done (not at the moment obviously) and catching up with friends (doing this via zoom currently).
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
You need to fit your own oxygen mask before you fit others. Taking care of ourselves as mums is so important, not only for ourselves but for our kids, particularly at the moment as a lot of us have our kids at home with us far more than usual. For me, fitting self care in means getting up before my kids. They are early risers (anywhere between 5-6am) so sometimes that means setting my alarm for 4:30am. I’m not typically a morning person, but I feel so much better if I’ve had that quiet time at the start of the day. I also talk to my husband about what I need and when he can be with the kids so I can do that (at the moment it’s going for a run as soon as he walks in the door from work).
