Two minutes with … Cat Sanz, mama to daughters aged 5 and 4 years and a son, aged 1 year

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

The last time I had ‘me-time’ or my #fiveminutesofmine was yesterday when I booked in a facial, a bit lux for my regular me time but totally deserved. I have booked in a pilates session tonight at 5:30PM knowing the next three days I am solo parenting with 3 kids and need to do something that helps support my body and strength.

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

Meditation, a hot beverage consumed hot (something we forget to do often as mamas), pilates, gratitude journaling, taking a walk, sitting on the ground and just submitttng to ‘mum life’ surrounded by my little people.

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

YOU ARE A PRIORITY, say it with me. Making time for you will positively affect your relationships with your partner, children, work colleagues, friends and family. You cannot pour from an empty cup, give to yourself so you may serve others. Start with just five minutes, which is where my #fiveminutesofmine movement came from, create a daily habit and make it a priority for yourself to give back to you, it takes 3 weeks to create a habit and I promise once you create consistent time for yourself it won’t become difficult to think of how to make it happen each day, it will become part of your routine.
