When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
The last time I had me-time was this weekend when my husband and I had a much needed getaway. My mom is visiting from Norway so she insisted we should have some time to ourselves. Even though it wasn’t alone time it felt like it to me. As we now live in a new country with no family and friends (yet) we don’t get to spend a lot of time together as a couple so it was really nice to just relax and enjoy time together. We spent one night in the city and the following day and night at a beach front hotel where we just lay at the beach all day and enjoyed not having to keep our eyes on the kids all the time or build sand castles. A big thank you to my mom.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
I need my quiet coffee time every day! I also try to sneak away after my husband comes from work to work out or spend some time with my oldest daughter. Our youngest son just started daycare two days a week so now I’ll have more time to myself during the week and I just started writing a blog https://katrineworld.wordpress.com/ and plan on making that into a hobby as I really enjoy it.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
Depending on your life situation it is very important to have some time to yourself. I have struggled this year feeling I’ve had no alone time. I guess just finding the time either when your kid(s) nap, are at school or when they watch a show on TV. Whenever during the day you can sit down, relax or do what it is that you love doing. Taking a bath after the kids are in bed or watching your favourite show on TV with no one interrupting you. Make sure you take care of yourself and know you deserve to. After being a working mom to now being a stay at home mom I now feel the ‘me-time’ is even more precious as I’m always there with the kids.
