When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
The last time I had me-time was on Friday I treated myself to an express glow facial… Yes it is as good as it sounds!!! It had been a busy week of photoshoots, events, and the children’s school, sport and activities. Friday is generally my day off so work so while the kids were at school I got my house sorted, ran some errands then made a quick stop to Flawless Rejuvenation in Hampton to treat myself before racing to school pickup.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
Being active is so important to me, and I love that my job allows me to really focus on this and lead by example for my children too. I go to KX pilates twice a week and F45 and yoga once a week with my husband. It’s a nice way to connect and refocus, and I always leave feeling energised. If I’ve had a crazy week and my schedule allows, I might try to treat myself to a bit of pampering, wander around the shops, coffee catch ups with friends, or have some relaxing time at home. It’s amazing what one hour doing nothing can do for the mind!
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
Me time can be difficult as a mum especially when the children are quite young, we get in to the habit of putting everyone first but ourselves. It’s definitely much easier now the kids are at school. I think as babies and toddlers, having someone take the kids for a walk in the pram or a quick park play so you can regroup, have a long hot bath, or go and get your nails done can work wonders. Now that the children are older, its more of a balance between work, being a mum and finding some time for myself. A structured day off really helps, but if you can’t do that, an hour to yourself when the kids are in bed would be a good starting point. A new book to read, or a night off cooking with something healthy from Uber Eats.
