Two minutes with … Chrissy Powers, mama to Waylon, aged 4 years and Ezekiel, aged 1 year

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

Last time I had some “me-time” was when I went to see the movie “bad moms” with my best girl friends!

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

I love to practice self-care by reading a devotional that belonged to my grandmother and my Bible and then I journal my thoughts, prayers, goals and intentions for the day.

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

Sometimes you just have to choose to not do the laundry or dishes and sit down during the day when kids are napping or preoccupied. I leave a book in my car so that when both my boys fall asleep in the car I can park and read…sometimes that’s the only “me time” I get during the week. Ideally your spouse or partner, relative or babysitter can give you a couple hours a week to do something for yourself. Don’t ever feel bad for asking for help or paying someone to give you a break; you will be a better mother for it.
