Two minutes with … Stephanie Pollock, mama to Olive, aged 7 months

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

The last time I had “me time” was just a few days ago. Usually when Olive goes to bed I run out and go thrifting or grocery shopping. Also, once a month a few girlfriends and I meet up for a few drinks! It’s so refreshing and something I really look forward to each month.

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

I love baths. I never used to be a bath person but when I got pregnant taking a bath always relaxed me and it’s kind of stuck! So I try and take baths and then remember to put lots of lotion on. It’s something so simple but so important. I’m also super picky about my skin care routine and I’ve tried to make it a priority to make sure I put on a night cream every night. Now, that doesn’t always happen, but A for effort right.

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

It is so important to have me time… I’ve never been one of those people that needed time alone but after having a baby and balancing our schedules I realized I needed some time alone. Whenever I get away I come back a better wife and mom. My advice would be no matter what try to get at least ONE night a week away. Or even an hour or two. If you don’t have a babysitter try finding another mom and switching. You take her babes for an hour or two and she takes yours! Get creative, you’ll be a whole new person once you get some time to hear your own thoughts!
