When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
I do love to have a bit of “me time” everyday even if it’s just a few minutes. I like to head out early in the morning and walk our dog Buckley. Before bed I try and get in some reading even if it’s just 10 minutes!
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
Facials! I love getting a facial. At home its a good body scrub, then slathering my skin in Coco Body and painting my nails. And my weekly personal training session always makes feel so good after! I’m a huge believer fitness makes you feel good.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
I find routine and a schedule works well for us. I’m a stay at home mum and also have my own small business so I need to have an idea of how my day/week is heading. Even though some days the schedule doesn’t go to exact plan, I sneak in some me time when Aria has her day nap, that is if I don’t have too much work to do. Even just for me to focus 100% on my work while she naps is relaxing for me! Or just taking her out for a long walk in her pram makes me feel refreshed and energized ready to take on the remainder of the day.
For mumma’s that are struggling to find some me time never be afraid to ask for help or take those offers up whether it is from family or even friends. When your baby has that nap time take some time out for yourself. Forget about the dirty floors and massive pile of ironing that can wait (honestly you should see how long my ironing sits for sometimes haha). Sit back with a coffee and a good book or indulge in your fav TV show. Or if you are a fitness lover head outside for a mini workout. It’s amazing how much happier and rejuvenated you will feel.
With Baby no.2 coming I know I’m going to have to find a whole new balance with everything and especially “me time”. I look forward to stepping into the next chapter of motherhood all the challenges, joy, tears and love it will bring.
