Two minutes with … Kyly Clarke, mama to Kelsey Lee, aged 6 months

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

Let me think … haha, I actually took time to get a pedicure. I am a beauty therapist by trade, so even doing that, I find it hard to relax. I normally do them at home, and sure sometimes I am still answering emails when I have one at a salon, but I am learning to relax and try and just take in me-time. It’s a work in progress.

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

I do love a DIY facial.  I burn one of my candles on a relaxed Sunday to get me in the zone - my favourite right now is bamboo and clove.  I just chill in the bathroom while Kelsey Lee is asleep and  give my face a 101 cleanse, scrub and hydrating mask. I will even leave the mask on for a few hours and walk around the house with it.

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

That’s the word being scheduled, having a schedule, being organised and prioritising it. Once your baby is asleep, I know you need to clean the house, do laundry, puree, cook dinner etc, I get it, it’s hard, but there has to be one afternoon that you can spare 10-15mins just for you. I still find it hard, but I just try, because if I don’t give back to my mind and body then how can I be the best person with a clear mind to give to my baby, husband and business.
