Two minutes with … Tara Scott, mama to Cruz 4, and twins, Indi and Izzi, 2

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

I actually can’t remember the last time I had “me-time” unless arranging a baby sitter for work or a meeting counts! But in saying that … I make time for meditation and yoga at home, and like to run a bath on the occassion when the kids go to sleep! However this week I noticed I needed some “being” just “me” space so asked for help and I am off to a yoga class I have been aiming to get to all year!

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

Meditation, Exercise, Nutrition, Self Beauty at home to nurture the goddess in me (baths on a full and new moon with essential oils )

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

I listen in to myself - I will not say I have mastered it by any means - but I see the signs when I know I am tipping over and need some space to “breathe” and just “be”.  I don’t let myself feel guilty for that or judge myself either. I am a single mother of three, so assistance with the kids isn’t something I have readily available, yet we make this work for us, and I work around that and “adjust” me-time! Mindful coffees, meditation outside, yoga even with the kids, baths at night time. I have just learnt to ask for help because I believe we can not look after our children if we aren’t looking after ourselves. Look after yourself as you hope they’ll grow to look after themselves.
