Two minutes with … Pip Edwards, mama to Justice, aged 10 years

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

I very rarely get me-time. In between working 2 jobs and being a mumma and a lover and a daughter, me-time is a rare occasion. Training is my me-time. Whether it be walking the Bondi to Bronte, a circuit class or a cycle - it’s a great time to switch off and get the body moving. Also if I have time I like to see a kineseologist, and sometimes a spiritual healer, even a psychic - I’m really into that world and the wealth of knowledge that it delves into. I’m very into connecting all elements.

To be honest with you, last night was the first time I actually got some “me-time” whilst at home (this never happens) - the boyfriend and my son were both fast asleep, and I spent an hour on the couch trawling pinterest (something I LOVE to do) and then went on a rampage through the house, re-arranging all the furniture and creating a new vibe in the lounge room and dining room. I was super busy moving and shifting things around. I think with me-time, I am that kind of person that still needs to be ticking boxes and making stuff happen …. me-time, involves getting on top of my own personal chores … the next thing I need to tackle is my wardrobe hahaha.

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

Exercise is a big one. Diet is important too. I also take care of my skin and visit The Clinic once a month. Grooming is integral to self care as it’s part of making you feel good. When you feel good, you look good and vice versa when you look good, you feel good. So self care has not only be on the inside, but on the outside too.

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

I’m not good at sticking to me-time. I need to get better this. It’s definitely something that I have to schedule in.
