When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
I generally take some time once a week for myself, for a few hours. Whether it be in the evening when my son has gone to bed, or popping out on the weekend. Sometimes, just sneaking upstairs to watch TV in bed alone is enough for me to feel like I’ve recharged my batteries!
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
I love sneaking in a quick neck and shoulder massage before I start grocery shopping! It’s a guilty pleasure of mine. I also love to sit down during my son’s nap time with a cup of tea and indulge in some Netflix!
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
It’s a must have! I’m very fortunate to have a husband who really shares the load evenly with my son. Some days I can tell him that I need some me-time and he’ll push me out the door himself. I’ll go and do what I want for a few hours, normally it’s a bit of retail therapy or a pedicure! Some mothers may feel they don’t have anyone to call on for help, but you do! You’ll be so surprised how much the people around you want to help, especially in those first months of being a mum. If you need to, always reach out for a helping hand! People love to baby sit!
