When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
The last time I had me- time was last Thursday, I had a massage. It wasn’t a great massage it was more like an oil saturation and a pat down but it was nice to lay in silence for an hour.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
I often make time for myself, I get my hair done every 6-8 weeks and get lash extensions every 3 weeks, I also try and squeeze in a face mask once a week.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
I work from home so I’m flexible with my days, if I have something booked in say on a Thursday I will do extra work on the Wednesday, I don’t feel guilty that I take time for myself it’s nice to re-fuel take some time out and feel good about yourself

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
A few days ago I made myself take a shower after the kids went to bed (I often end up just taking a shower with one of them in the afternoon because I use my mornings and evenings for working a lot). Afterward, I applied a sunless tanner to my very fair-skinned body (with some help from my husband). Afterward, we sat together and watched Game of Thrones while we ate Ben and Jerry’s (a treat for us because we usually avoid sugar). It felt nice to do something that made me feel attractive and I love having one on one time with the hubs!
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
It might sound completely lame, but in all honesty, my favorite form of me-time is to go to the gym. One of the reasons I love it is because, as an introvert who spends a lot of her day talking, I get to put in my headphones and not say a word to a single person. I know a lot of people like to go to the gym in pairs or with groups of friends. Nope, not me. I go to the gym to “unplug” from the world. I also love going to the gym because I feel as though I’m at my best when I’ve just had a good workout. Even if I’m falling behind on my work, I feel as though I get a fresh start and gain an extra kick of momentum when I’m able to spend an hour and a half working out.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
Collaborate with your husband! Both husbands and wives need “me-time.” Since I work and Josh stays home with the kids, I make sure he has time to himself in the afternoons and evenings so he can decompress from the kids for a bit and I often get out later in the evening to a coffee shop to write, catch up on collaborations, or just decompress while I drink coffee that someone else made for me. Josh and I also plan on getting gym memberships specifically at a place that has childcare, that way we don’t need to tag team it when we go to the gym but, instead, we can go together whenever we’d like to.

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
My last “me-time” was over the weekend. I took a long soak in the tub with my favourite bath bomb, bubbles, and some music. oh and of course an iced coffee!! Not only did I feel relaxed in both mind and body, but my anxieties from the day didn’t seem to matter as much. It was wonderful!
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
For where I am in life at the moment, self care looks a little different than it did a few months ago. I try to do something daily that makes me feel beautiful. This can be as simple as brushing my hair, taking a nap, or putting on mascara, or even just wearing my favorite shirt… or it can be something a little more time consuming, like doing my full face or getting a pedicure. Just as long as it brings me joy and gives me a minute to care for myself and my self confidence. I also have started purging the clutter from my life. Not only does it care for my mental health. but also just sets my days up to be happier! Some days this looks like literal purging of stuff and clutter, but some days its just me clearing my head of everything weighing me down. (i.e. friends, judgments, tasks, ect) It’s very freeing and I always find I can think clearly after!
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
Me-time can happen anywhere, anytime, and can take as much, or as little, time as you want. If you are finding it hard to prioritize it or find time for it, instead just start by searching for the moments of peace… and enjoy them! You will find your days can be filled with minutes of “me-time” that you didn’t realize were there. That’s exactly how I started adding it into my life. The few moments where my daughter was asleep in the car, or the few minutes she was entertaining herself were the perfect times to sneak away into my head, or the bathroom (cause that’s really where I was missing my privacy haha) and just enjoy silence. Now I have my husband take both girls a few nights a week for the bedtime routine. Even though its only 30 minutes or so, I notice a HUGE difference in my moods when I have that time to myself. I usually feed and change the baby, and set him up for success as well )less interruptions later).

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
Last weekend I went and got a manicure and pedicure… I try and make this a regular thing (every 3 weeks or so), I sit in the massage chair and I just chill, don’t speak, I am totally zoned out, take a coffee = Heaven.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
For me it’s Exercise!
I have recently got back into Pilates; it’s the best way to get my core strength back after having kids. Not only an hour to myself but it helps me mentally and physically feel strong and gives me more energy.
I also go to my local Hitt (High Intensity Training) I can even take the kids, it’s a 20min high intensity work out session. If I do this in the mornings, I feel like I can take on the day.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
I might need to take some of my own advice here cause I am not sure I have the balance worked out quite right… I try to make my exercise or self-care part of my every day routine; I schedule it into everyday making it a habit.
A friend got me onto this idea that my husband and I have recently locked in a babysitter for once a month in advance, no matter what for date nights.

When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
Today! I went surfing 1.5 hours and my husband stayed with kids on shore. Surfing is the best meditation and the best relaxation for me.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
Self care for me means healthy food, travel, sport, quality time with family and creativity.
Healthy food - eating more veggies, taking less sugar, cooking at home (as this way you control how and what products you cook).
Travel with family is the best quality time for me. We go out of comfort zone as we love exploring new places, new destinations and are not afraid of climbing down and up the hills with our 2 kids.
Creative - I challenge myself to post 1 inspiring photo a day in my IG @familylivingadream and that really requests lots of creativity:)
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
It’s all in your mind and in cooperation with your husband. If you are struggling to find me time, make a nice dinner for your husband, explain that you need 2-3 times a week a 2 hour your time, agree on days and hours when and keep on the strict schedule.
