When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
Last time I had ‘me-time’ was Saturday. I got a chance to catch up on my sleep. I enjoyed an extra two hours of sleep that I normally don’t have during the week. It is the me-time I treasure the most. I find when I rest well and have a good night sleep I can function during the day with more focus and efficiency.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self-care?
I love finding quiet moments during the day involving drinking coffee and indulging in dark chocolate, contemplating or reflecting on life events. They can be as therapeutic as going somewhere for a nice facial or massage. Being a mum of two and my son still three days a week at home I am sometimes challenged to find me-time. It is a team effort in our household with a pinch of planning, so I get to go to the hairdresser or to get my nails done. I also organise for a masseuse to come to my place once a month. It is bliss.
What advice would you give to Mums struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
Life and work can quickly take over your already scarce free time.
In the past, I had made the mistake of working constantly and not taking a well-earned break when the opportunity arises. When your little one goes down for a nap, it is your time to rest as well. Don’t be afraid to slow down and enjoy a short break, read a few pages of a book with a cup of tea. Light some scented candles around you and enjoy the serenity of this moment.
