When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

The last time was 2 nights ago. Most nights, after I put the kids to bed, and if I’m not engaged in getting a task done or spending quality time with my husband, is when I will try to get my “me-time.” I’m a homebody, so a lot of my “me-time” is spent watching a good tv show or catching up and engaging on social media. 

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

Does drinking wine count? ? To me one of my favorite ways to practice self care is to do yoga and get at least 8 hours of sleep.

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

I would say that while it is usually hard to take care of ourselves because we are too busy taking care of others, I believe trying to carve out that time is essential, even if it something simple. For instance, in addition to the “me-time” listed above, I consider getting a good night’s sleep important “me-time.” It is key to having the energy to get us through the day. Also, our bodies and minds would thank us. I would also say that while it may not always work, it is important to remember that we cannot do everything in one day, “life” tends to happen, and to keep believing that small wins are actually big wins in the long run. There is always tomorrow, so it is important to make that time for you today.
