When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

The last time I truly had me time was at the Bloom Getaway event on May 19-20. It was time for me to get away and fill my cup. 

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

I honestly struggle with this. But lately I have been making more effort in caring for my needs. 

I eat at meal times. It sounds so simple but I know many mom’s that hardly ever get to eat. 

Drinking water throughout the day helps me to stay hydrated. It’s a simple thing but something we should all do even if you don’t have kids. 

Getting exercise is a big help. I try to do yoga at least a few times a week. We also go hiking as a family once a week. 

At the end of the day I sometimes watch one of my favorite shows to unwind. 

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? 

Quiet the mom guilt. As a mom we are quick to take care of everyone around us and completely forget about ourselves. Then, when we do finally think of ourselves, we feel guilty. But caring for ourselves benefits everyone. You can not pour from an empty cup. We need to make time for ourselves. 

How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

This is something I am constantly working on. Being honest with how I feel is the biggest thing I am learning. If I am starting to feel drained then I know I have to fit in some me time. Communication with my husband and letting him know where I am at has been a huge help.
