When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

About three weeks ago when I was at the hairdressers. A solid 3 hours of someone else looking after me and doting on me. It’s a nice change!

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

I love staying active by going to my second family at the gym. I spend approximately 6 hours a week devoting that time to look after myself, not just physically, but by also being staying mentally healthy. Interaction with adults on a daily basis is important in staying sane! Lunches and strolls in the parks are also my favourite activities to do sans baby. I’m never away for long, but for those couple of hours, it is bliss to connect with others without distractions.

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

I believe to be a great mum you need to start at the foundation of your own self being. It is important to take some quality time for yourself to do things that make you who you are. That could be going to the gym, coffee dates, going to art classes the options are endless. If you have a support unit, don’t be afraid to ask! I always make sure if I have to have some “me time” that my partner can also enjoy some quality time too, we always take it in turns or get the inlaws involved for date nights.
