When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

The last time I had legitimate “me-time” was right before I had my second baby and he is a month old tomorrow. I spent that time getting a mani and pedi because I knew those would become very limited when my baby boy got here. I have gotten lucky enough to have a couple mini sessions of “me-time” since my son was born and by this I mean both kids fell asleep at the same time. Hahaha! One of these times we were in the car and so I was able to grab Starbucks through the drive-thru in peace. The second and third time this happened, we were at home and I was able to take a nap and also paint my nails while watching the Bachelorette. It’s the little things that count!

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

These are my favorite ways to practice self care. When I am feeling really tired, exhausted or overwhelmed I try to do one of these things to help me feel better about myself. Moms of all people need rejuvenating, we work 24/7! 1. Getting a mani/pedi. 2. Getting a massage. 3. Getting my hair cut. 4. Going shopping for MYSELF. 5. Traveling (or just getting out of the house to do something fun!)

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

I am not going to lie, making “me-time” is hard when you’re a mom. My advice to other mamas struggling with this would be to find at least one solid person you can rely on and do not be afraid to ask them for help. For me, I am lucky enough to have my mom to help out when I need her. I would say try to find at least an hour out of the week each week for “me-time”. As a mom, sometimes it is okay to leave the kids and do something for only yourself, even if it is only for an hour! We have to take care of ourselves to take care of our kids.
