When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

Two weeks ago my husband and I went out for dinner and got a babysitter for the kids. It’s a rare occasion but was nice. As far as having actual time for myself, just for me, I can’t even remember…… last week I went to the dentist. Does that count? I find that we are always so busy and between myself and my husband working, it’s really hard to find a balance. I know it will get easier as the kids get older and more independent so we are just enjoying this time while they are small and actually want to hang out with us.

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

I enjoy going for a walk or exercising alone. Just having some time to clear my head and only focus on the task at hand. I also enjoy going shopping alone, just getting hubby to look after the kids for an hour or so. I can hit the shops and actually try on clothes.

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

It’s hard, but try not to be too hard on yourself. As I said before, they are only little for such a short time and it will get easier. Try to take a couple of minutes each day to just take a moment and clear your head – even if it’s sitting down and watching some trashy TV when the kids are in bed or just going to sit in the sunshine with a coffee while your children nap.
