When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
I am currently enjoying some “me-time” with my Husband for my 35th Birthday. Just a few days out of town without kids….
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
Yoga is my regular self care routine. I try to get to 3-4 classes a week. I also try to do a short meditation before or after each class. I love a long bath at home with a face mask finished with a body scrub. Or even just a 20 minute cup of tea with a good magazine. Having a healthy relationship with your partner/husband is also so important to a functioning family. We try to do a date night once a week. Even if it’s just at home, cooking a special meal together. No distractions being present and being intimate with each other.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
It’s really about shifting your own perception of me-time from an indulgence to a necessity. It’s a hard shift to make but once you realise you are a happier more productive Mother/ Wife/ Friend with just a small amount of me time it becomes easier to take that time out on a weekly or even daily basis. Accept help from friends and family. It can be daunting prepping for a few hours away from a newborn or a few days away from your kids. But you get better at it and realise not to sweat the small stuff! Your children become more adaptable too.
