When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time? 

I actually got to have some “me-time” this morning. I went to meet one of my best girl friends at the mall to get our nails done. Of course the trip also included Starbucks, window shopping, and lots of laughter.

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care? 

My favorite ways to practice self care are to get grown up girl time with my mama friends as much as possible and to use nap time for me. Whether I’m feeling like answering emails or binge watching Netflix, I try my hardest not to schedule ahead what I’ll do during nap time because every day looks different so my needs for self care change.

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself? 

Self care is something I had to teach myself to do. Honestly, I’d say that in my circle of friends about half of us were this way, for the others it was second nature. No matter what category you fall into, I think the most important thing to remember is that it is absolutely essential to the health of your family. I say that because if as a mama you are emotionally and physically cared for, you won’t be able to effectively care for those around you. I struggled in the beginning because I thought “me-time” was selfish, leaving my family behind to fend for themselves. Then I realized how much I really needed it and how much smoother my family life was when I practiced self care.
