When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

I am not the most motivated when it comes to housework, so I tend to use nap time as “me time” whenever both kids happen to nap at the same time. I’d love to say I feel guilty about relaxing instead of getting other stuff done, but I don’t. I need “me time” in order to survive. So, right now, during nap time, I’m taking time to answer these questions and watching “Master of None” on Netflix. It’s much more fun than folding laundry.

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

I practice self-care by taking time to shower every night before I go to bed; it makes me feel human. I’m also trying to get into some kind of exercise; although, it’s been hard with two young kids and a husband who’s busy running a new business. Kicking up my feet and watching a little television or working with my plants also helps me feel like myself instead of just a mother taking care of other people all the time. 

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

I don’t know if I really have advice to give other moms. Being a parent is hard, whether you work or stay home with your kids. It drains you and sometimes it’s hard to remember who you really are under all the parenting and momming in your daily life. Taking time for my own hobbies and interests helps me. I HAVE to take some time for myself every single day somehow. Whether that’s just skimming my phone before bed, watching Bravo during nap time, or leaving the kids with my husband so I can do some solo adventuring.
