When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

I have a four week old daughter so me time is a little more limited at the moment! But I went for a 45 minute walk along the beach near our home on the weekend (without the pram!) I love listening to podcasts -I had the new serial one on while I walked and I find that’s a great way to escape and turn your mind off a bit! 

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

I love running! I ran until 30 weeks pregnant this time around and I can’t wait to start again in a few weeks. I found recovering after the birth was so much easier and I think being fitter really helped. I run 6 times a week. It makes me feel better both physically and mentally. I put music on and just check out. I also love a glass or two of wine at the end of the day. I suppose that’s not really “self care” but I find it relaxing! 

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

My husband is amazing. He does more for our children than I do! He makes sure I get an hour or more to exercise most days- even if that means he has less time to do something for himself. My advice is to remember you’re in it together- with my first child I didn’t want to ask for help but this time around I’ll take it the first chance I get!!! I also find getting up early while everyone is asleep means I can fit more into my day. (hard at first when you’re so tired but worth it!) We made the decision to keep our four year old in daycare a few days a week while I’m at home with our newborn daughter. It gives me a break and she’s not stuck in the house while I’m concentrating on the baby and feeding for hours on end! I guess that’s not for everyone but she’s happy and we are finding it’s working really well.
