When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

Actually I went shopping by myself for the first time in years! Not just food shopping, I went clothes shopping by myself last week, which isn’t something I do often, but it was nice to have an hour or two to walk around and do this by myself, without two boys to entertain, so that I don’t lose them in the shops!

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

I like to try and meditate in the mornings, even if it is just a few minutes. I also like to bake in the evening when the boys are in bed.

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

Well I do find it hard, but the morning meditations I try to do whilst still in bed in the morning when I can see the boys are wriggling around about to wake up. I guess being mothers we sometimes find it hard to ask for time for ourselves but I have found if I don’t ask,  I won’t get it so if my husband is around I say I am going to walk the dog today or I try and organise things ahead if I know I need some time. I am definitely getting better at it!

I also use the time after the kids, and often husband, are in bed to get some me-time. I like it late at night when everyone is asleep and I stay up and read or do creative things.
