When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?

Today! And I’m working. But, I’m working on a project for myself, I’m writing a book.

What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?

I try and take 30 minutes every single day to work out. Taking care of myself that way allows me to de-stress, and feel good about myself.

I also try and get out of the house with girlfriends for a quick bite, or a drink, once or twice a month. It’s so important to remember we’re women with friends, lives, and interests that include being mothers, but aren’t limited to motherhood. Sometimes that’s hard to remember, when you’re in the thick of it.

What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?

It’s not easy, especially with really little kids. And if you happen to be breastfeeding, it’s even more complicated. Me-time got a lot easier after I was finished breastfeeding my babies. I think you just have to force taking me-time and make it happen. It’s really easy to get so caught up in the day, you forget to even eat breakfast. So, take the 5 minutes and make yourself an egg, a cup of hot coffee, or a shake. Even if the kids are going crazy, fuel yourself and remember your needs are important too.
