When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
I try to make time for myself every day! I’m an introvert, and I “recharge” best when I can have quiet time alone. My favorite way to do this is to read a book in a hot bath!
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
I try to get a massage about once a quarter, which really helps alleviate tension in my neck and back. And like I already mentioned, I love a good soaking bath!
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
I think it’s important to figure out how you recharge or relax. Some moms may need a conversation with a friend over a glass of wine, while others may need morning quiet time. I have reflected on what makes my day go better, and I try to work that in and prioritize that. I have my kids practice this right along with me – we often have 30-60 minutes of “family quiet time” in the afternoons. I want to encourage other moms that this isn’t selfish at all, especially because it affects your family too…when I get what I need, I’m able to give what they need. Having a quiet time in the middle of the day renews my patience and enthusiasm for parenting, for marriage and for work!
