When was the last time you had “me-time” and how did you spend that time?
Thursday night I took a Barre class.
What are some of your favourite ways to practice self care?
1. Firstly, you need to make the time for it. I have scheduled days/nights I have both Grand-mothers babysit and when there is Daddy son time. By scheduling it in every week on a regular day/night it means it will actually happen!
2. Knowing when to say ‘No’. Making sure I don’t over commit myself or wish I said no to a coffee date/play date dinner with friends (especially this time of year) it is so easy wanting to make everyone happy. Sometimes you need to say no, and just make time to do absolutely nothing!
3. Surrounding myself with positive people and people that make you happy.
4. Be grateful. Sometimes it’s so easy to get bogged out in daily life and harbour negativity about the little things. It is important to be grateful for everything we do have in our lives. Just taking a moment to stop and be grateful can change a bad day into a good one.
What advice would you give to mamas struggling to create “me-time”? How do you make time in your schedule for yourself?
Schedule in a babysitter at the same time every week. The hardest step is ‘making the time’. But if this is adopted in the weekly schedule then the hard bit has been done!
