My fortnightly massage regime was interrupted slightly when the bargain massage I booked through the Sage Institute for $25.00 was cancelled with an email advising of the appointment of Administrators.
That disappointment was made up for by my next treatment – my first experience with Myotherapy.
Myotherapy is a form of manual therapy which focuses on the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pain.
Myotherapy incorporates trigger point therapy and a wide range of soft tissue massage and manipulation including: muscle energy technique, dry needling, and joint mobilization.
My session was held in rooms at Core Foundations PT, located upstairs on the Beaumaris Concourse. The treatment rooms are what you’d expect of a clinic – simple but comfortable.
My session was with Kate. At the start of the treatment she asked if I wanted to focus on specific areas. She worked on my neck, shoulders and glutes in line with my request. Kate is very clearly skilled (and as she explained, to become a myotherapist involves four years of study). She worked strongly into my problem areas and I felt much more relaxed at the end of our 45 minutes.
Cost – $29.00 for 45 minutes (with a Groupon voucher)
