Having purchased a deal for this massage through Groupon I booked well in advance, to ensure I got a date and time that suited. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again, having a massage in the diary – even if it is a few weeks off – really helps having that me-time to look forward to.
Dee Dee Thai massage is located in an eclectic suburban shopping strip in Bentleigh, Melbourne. The salon is small, but clean, with sweet touches like a bowl of water lilies under the massage table and frangipanis by the front door. On the day I visited I was the only client being seen, so the only noise was relaxing background music.
I like to think I’m starting to become quite the Thai massage expert having had a fair few already this year. This massage started with work on my legs and then back. For this part of the massage, my therapist, Christy, did all the work – including using her knees, elbows and body weight to apply pressure. When I rolled over my legs and back were stretched with Christy’s help.
Before the end of the massage the oil was cleaned off with a warm towel. Often oil massages I have had in the past, skip this step – which can make the trip home -on a hot day a bit slippery! The massage finished with some more work on my back, head and neck while I was sitting on the table.
Overall it was a great massage, especially for the price. The service was friendly and the location easy, with ample parking nearby.
Cost – $38.24 for 1 hour (through Groupon and with an additional 15% off special offer)
